Math Program
The Math Program consists of 23 levels, numbered levels 7A through to level Q. The Program begins with very
basic number recognition, counting and writing, and progresses through addition, subtraction, multiplication,
division and fractions. From there it goes to negative numbers, followed by algebra, factoring, functions, calculus
and other university level topics.
The main goal of the Math Program is to make high school and college math easy through mastery of core skills
and developing self-learning ability. Each concept that is introduced builds on knowledge and skills learned from
the previous concept. Thus it is vital that students fully master and understand one concept before going to the
next.
The levels are as follows:
- 7A - Counting & Writing up to 10
- 6A - Counting & Writing up to 30,Set Recognition to 20
- 5A - Fine Motor Pencil Control, Dot-to-dot Exercises
- 4A - Counting and Writing up to 220, Set Recognition
- 3A - Adding 1 to 5 to Numbers
- 2A - Adding 6 to 10 to Numbers, Subtracting up to 10
- A - Advanced Addition and Subtraction facts
- B - Vertical Addition and Subtraction up to 3 digits
- C - Multiplication Tables, Basic Multiplication & Division
- D - Long Multiplication, Long Division, Conversion of Improper Fractions, and Reduction of Fractions
- E - Fractions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division), Basic Decimals
- F - Order of Operations with Fractions, Pre-algebra, Word Problems, Advanced Decimals
- G - Negative Numbers, Exponents, Algebraic Expressions in One Variable
- H - Linear Equations, Simultaneous Linear Equations up to 4 Variables, Inequalities, Functions and
Graphs
- I - Factoring Polynomials, Square Roots, Quadratics, Graphs, Pythagorean Theorem
- J - Advanced Factoring Polynomials, Advanced Quadratic Equations, Equations of higher degree
- K - Graphing Quadratic, Fractional, Irrational, Exponential, Logarithmic & Trigometric Functions
- L - Differential and Integral Calculus
- M - Q - recently revised and updated.
Through being assigned the "just-right" number of daily worksheets, the Kumon student builds skills and
self-learning without being overwhelmed by too much work. Assignments are completely flexible and can be increased
or decreased as needed.
